General Technology

The General Technology (GNT) program is designed to meet specific employer and/or student needs in a variety of different technical career areas that require a unique combination of skills.  The college adviser, the student, and any sponsoring industry employer together will develop an education plan based on the intended career focus.  Degree and certificate requirements are based on the adviser-approved curriculum.

The intent of the General Technology Associate of Applied Science degree is to serve employer-sponsored students.  It includes the college’s 19 credit hour General Education Core Requirements, 32 to 34 credit hours in two or more disciplines including six to eight credit hours of internship with the sponsoring employer, eight to twelve credit hours of adviser-approved electives, and a one credit hour Job Search Strategies course.

There is a General Technology Certificate available for students whose unique career goals and needs are better served by a shorter program of study.  Depending on the student’s career goals, a general education requirement may or may not be included.
