Background

State Technical College of Missouri is a nationally ranked higher education institution which serves as Missouri’s only public two-year college with a statewide mission specializing in technical education. The college offers over 35 programs focused on emerging and traditional technologies.  Located in Linn, MO just 15 miles from Jefferson City, 1.5 hours from St. Louis, and 2 hours from Kansas City, the town sits on the northern edge of the Missouri Ozarks where numerous outdoor recreation opportunities abound, including the popular Lake of the Ozarks, just one hour away.

State Tech is seeking a unique combination of technical knowledge, industry expertise, and education/training experience. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to the College’s mission of “preparing students for profitable employment and a life of learning.”

Responsibilities of the Academic Dean

Academic Deans are responsible for the overall success of the departments within their division, including financial sustainability. They are non-teaching academic administrators who focus on the following functions:

  • Ensure department plans and outcomes support the College
  • Ensure the instructional needs of the division are being met
  • Approve division curriculum modifications
  • Develop division class schedules in coordination with faculty and Academic Records
  • Coordinate and participate in recruiting and outreach events
  • Ensure that program publications and web content are current and accurate
  • Manage admissions criteria, processes, and enrollment capacities with program faculty
  • Ensure student complaints and escalated student issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Oversee division personnel hiring recommendations, development, supervision, and evaluation
  • Support institutional accreditation efforts
  • Maintain program-level accreditations
  • Review and approve instructional grant submissions
  • Coordinate, disseminate information to, and meet with division personnel
  • Build and maintain industry relationships and fundraising
  • Manage certification, continuing education, and industry training programs for faculty within division
  • Support Advisory Committee activities
  • Coordinate Student Evaluation and Improvement (SEI) analysis and improvement
  • Coordinate Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) analysis and improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Reporting Line

This position will report to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Salary and Start Date

Salary is negotiable, with an approximate range of $85-95,000. The targeted start date is July 1, 2023.
