Staying in Touch

We are so excited you have chosen State Technical College of Missouri! We are ready for you to join us on campus. We will send you a short message weekly for the purpose of staying in touch and sharing thoughts on how to prepare for your transition to Linn and the campus of State Tech.

Staying in Touch

September 25, 2023: State Tech Staying in Touch

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a great weekend with family and friends. The Chiefs got the win yesterday and if you haven’t heard Swift is dating Kelce. We hope you are having a good classroom experience in your program. If you have any questions, please share them with your instructors. Your counselors are able to help you carry that message to your instructors if you want some assistance. Have a great week in class and join us for some fun after classes are over each day in the Activity Center or out the Osage View.

F.A.S.T. Reporting

Have you noticed that a classmate is struggling? Did you know you can let us know and we can offer resources to help them get back on track? It’s as simple as completing the F.A.S.T. form. Just let us know what you have seen your friend or classmate struggling with and our team will reach out. If you want to report anonymously, you can. Some common things to report would be classmates missing multiple days of class, struggling with an assignment, or even life issues outside of class. Please consider reporting concerning behavior and allow our team to reach out and provide assistance. Thanks.

Inflatable Day! (TODAY, September 25, 2023 – Activity Center)

Thank you to the 20 teams who created boats and raced them Thursday afternoon at Lake State Tech! We want to congratulate the winners of the three prize categories! Special thanks to Brandon McElwain, Ben Berhorst for helping run the event. Our SGA Officers also helped run a safe event. Thanks for Halie, Perry, Aiden, Donald, and Fernando for all of your work before, during, and after the event. You guys make these events run smoothly. Thank you!

The boat that made the journey across the lake and back was the HVAC team once again! They are going to need a trophy case down in the HVAC lab!

Constitution Day

Please join us all week in celebrating Constitution Day. This year, Constitution Day is Sunday, September 17th so we will be celebrating all week. Come check out the display in the library and peruse many items and resources we have on the Constitution. Constitution Day became a national observance in 2004, when Senator Robert Byrd passed a bill designating September 17th as a day for citizens to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution and to learn more about our founding document.

This observance commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787.  For additional information, please visit: www.constitutionday.com

Here are some pictures of our Constitution Day display and students participating in the token event for the Constitution test. It is available the remainder of the week. Thank you to Andrew Medley and his team for putting together the Constitution Day display and events this week!

Remembering 9/11/01

The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 brought loss and grief on a scale we had never known. But in the dark days that followed, the American spirit rose to the forefront and this country showed what is possible when we all come together. And together we made a solemn vow: that we would never forget those we lost and that we would forever share their stories with the world. #neverforget

September 6, 2023: State Tech Staying in Touch

Driving on Campus

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a relaxing and safe weekend with friends and family. Before we get into our schedule for the week, we want to give a few reminders about driving on campus. Please be mindful of people walking to class. Stop and allow people to walk at cross walks, slow down for speed bumps, and continue to park in designated areas. Remember, the speed limit on campus is 15 MPH. Keep it slow and remember to give the right of way to those walking around you. Thanks and have a great week!

  • Arrive early – we recommend arriving on campus about 30 minutes prior to class. This will help with traffic flow through Linn and help you find a spot to park. After arriving early, you can walk to class and stop by Founder’s to grab a quick bite to eat.
  • If you see full parking lots, please continue on to the next open lot – spots fill up quickly near the main entrance. However, we have lots all over campus. Simply proceed to the right at the traffic circle on Technology Drive and look for the next open lot. We have lots all the way to the back of campus. Every lot is only about a 5-minute walk to the other side of campus. Help us keep traffic flowing smoothly by NOT circling lots to find a spot in a lot that is full.
  • Once you have found a spot on-campus, stay parked during the day. Try to avoid driving off campus between classes. This will keep traffic congestion to a minimum and avoid time lost looking for a spot again when you return to campus.

It is important to know the campus speed limit is 15 miles per hour. Please follow this speed limit to keep everyone safe.

It is also important to follow traffic laws while driving through Linn, MO. Please obey speed limits through town and understand we have a convergence of three law enforcement entities close to campus.

  • Linn Police
  • Osage County Sheriff
  • Missouri State Patrol

Be safe and please follow traffic laws. Thanks.

Campus Parking

It’s no secret that traffic and parking can feel congested during the first few weeks of classes. Please get in the habit of arriving early on campus and driving to open parking spots across all of campus. The lots nearest to Hwy 50 fill up the quickest, instead of circling those lots to search for an open spot, continue to the right of the roundabout and look for open spots in other lots. We have open spots all the way to the back of campus. It is also important to know you are only permitted to park in parking stalls with white lines. Yellow lines are visitor parking and green lines are for faculty/staff. One final tip, please do NOT park in the grass.

Week of Welcome Continues Thursday

Today we have two more events we hope to see you attend between or after your classes. First, we will be hosting a chance to make your own tie-dyed t-shirt to add to your State Tech collection. That will take place between 2:00 – 4:30 PM outside the Health Sciences Center. Many of you have classes that end at 3:00 PM, so it would be a fun event to attend as you are leaving campus.

Trivia Night 5:00 – 7:00 PM – Vehicle & Power Center

Get a team together and compete for prizes and bragging rights. This is a student, faculty & staff event. Head of Library Learning Services, Andrew Medley is putting together 10 rounds of tough questions. Who will come out victorious? Get a team together and find out.

Credit Card Issues on Campus

Good afternoon! We have some information about credit card machines on campus. We are experiencing issues accepting credit card payments at this time in the Campus Dining Services, the Bookstore, and the Activity Center.

If you have a meal plan, you are still able to use those in Founder’s Café and the Osage Burger Company (scan your student ID). For all other students, faculty, and staff, we ask that you bring CASH to make purchases in those spaces.

We are working to correct the issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work to rectify the issue. We will send another update when we are back online.

Have Questions? Visit Our Counseling Services Team

We hope you are having a great first week at State Tech. Sometimes we all need someone we can ask questions or even just to talk. All students can reach out to our Counseling Services team with questions. Feel free to send an email, give a call, or stop by their offices to chat.

August 22, 2023: State Tech Staying in Touch

Welcome Back! We are excited for the first day of classes for the Fall 2023 semester. Here are a few tips for the first day.

  • Try and arrive early to park and find your classrooms (we will have folks at every door helping you along the way – so please ask if you aren’t sure where to go for class).
  • Stop by the cafeteria for FREE coffee & donuts.
  • Engage in the classroom discussion and listen to instructors talk about their expectations. Log in to Canvas – review your syllabus (for each class)– it will show you where milestones are in the class (assignments, quiz & test dates, projects, & more).
  • Enjoy your day.
  • Join us for Paintball on the back side of campus after class from 4-8 PM.

Construction Map – Pathways

With all the construction going on, we have created a map of all the changes and the correct pathways to make sure you are getting where you need to go. We will post this online tomorrow as well (https://statetechmo.edu/map-directions/). I will be adding Testing Center at UTC and closures of front and back doors of the ITC as well. I will send an update to the map when I get these changes completed, but wanted to make sure we had something completed for everyone.

Week of Welcome – Today

Today, we have two events as a part of Week of Welcome! Start your day off right with FREE coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts outside the entrance to Founder’s Café in the lower level of the ITC. Then, join us for Paintball this afternoon/evening from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM outside the Utility Technology Center. Remember, you can earn 150 tokens for yourself today and a chance to win $5,000 for your program. Have a great day!

Week of Welcome Competition – Win $5,000 for Your Program

We think it’s always a great time to attend fun and free activities outside the classroom.

But if you need another reason to attend Week of Welcome activities, we have one for you.

The program that has the highest attendance percentage during Week of Welcome Activities will win a $5,000 award from Student Government Association.

Will Precision Machining win again? Will Automotive Collision reclaim their title from 2021? Will another program steal the title away and win the $5,000?

Attend all the events for your program and see if you can help win the prize and earn yourself State Tech Tokens.

State Tech Tokens

When a student attends any event on campus, they check-in and earn tokens. We keep a running scoreboard all year long and students use them to bid on and purchase prizes at the end of the year BBQ.

Last year, we had a student who used their  tokens to buy a PS5, Oculus VR Goggles, and more. It pays off to attend events, earn tokens, and get prizes at the end of the school year.

We hope to see many of you attend all the events you are able throughout the year. You will event earn tokens by participating in and/or attending Intramural events as a spectator.

Later, when we offer education and awareness programming, those will have a token value as well. We are looking forward to a great year and hope to see you at as many events as your schedule allows.

Please reach out with questions

If you have questions about the detail of your student account, please contact the Financial Services Coordinator at 573-897-5121 or billing@statetechmo.edu.  If you have questions about your pending financial aid, please contact financial aid at 573-897-5000, then select Option 2, or send a note to financialaid@statetechmo.edu. What Is Inclusive Access?

What is Inclusive Access? Inclusive Access provides students with digital course materials instead of a “physical printed” book.

How to get to your Inclusive Access materials:

An email will be sent to your State Tech student email address from the State Tech Bookstore on Monday 8/14/23 (check junk mail if you don’t see it in your inbox) with access codes. When you have received your email, AND the course instructor has all course setup complete, you can login to canvas, find the course and input the code to access the materials.  FYI – If the course is a Pearson course, you will be required to setup a Pearson account before you can proceed to entering the access code.

The cost of the Inclusive Access materials has already been added to your student account. No additional purchase is necessary.

Questions or Problems accessing your inclusive access course materials?  Visit the Bookstore! We are always ready and willing to help.

We firmly believe our team can assist students and steer them toward graduation with early intervention to identified needs. This week, we have received Early Alert reports from several faculty. Our process is that someone from our Counseling Services team will reach out to you by text and email to offer resources for assistance. Please reply and engage them in conversation about what you need to be successful. Be on the lookout for text messages and emails to offer assistance this week.

Do Parents Attend Power Up?

One of the most common questions we have about Power Up is, “do parents/families attend or is it just for students?

That is a great question. I think that is really up to your family. There are three parts to PowerUp.

PowerUp will have a general welcome session that anyone can attend. The next session for students is with the other students in their program and all of their instructors (students only).

We do welcome anyone to attend our BBQ and concert as a wrap-up to the day. So, parents are more than welcome to stay and attend the welcome session and BBQ, but it is up to you.

Our offices are open at 8:00 AM Monday, August 21. 2023 in the event you have last minute things you would like to wrap up before PowerUp begins. Our offices are open during the Summer Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Fridays 8:00 AM to Noon.

Tips & Tricks for Success

  • Attend class – as you heard from Dr. Strong in previous speeches, being present is a high percentage of being successful at State Tech. Make sure you are attending all classes and turning in all assignments.
  • Turn in all assignments – it is not just enough to show up on a daily basis. You need to follow instructions and turn in all assigned work. If you are struggling, let your instructors know. They are here to help.
  • Get to know your instructors – take the time to let them know who you are before or after class, they are the best source of knowledge for the class and it’s a great idea to begin networking with them. They know many people within their field of expertise, in industry in Missouri and beyond.
  • Get to know your fellow students – take the time to meet new people before or after class – be social!  You may find a study partner and new friends. Having lunch in the Founder’s Café, playing pool in the Activity Center, hitting some golf balls at the Driving Range, or going to an event hosted by Student Activities are great ways to meet people outside the classroom.
  • Ask questions – seek out services when you need the assistance – we have a fantastic group of staff and services that can provide you with answers to your most difficult questions. State Tech staff want to help, so do not hesitate to approach us and ask a question.
  • Get involved! – State Technical College of Missouri has many different activities to keep students busy when they are outside the classroom.  We have clubs, organizations, small events like movie nights, game nights, open mic nights to dances, concerts, Paintball, GloZone dance parties, and Capture the Flag.  Make sure to follow State Tech on social media channels! Also, read the Staying in Touch each week for updates to the activities calendar. They do a great job of keeping our students busy with activities all week long. We have FREE tickets to the Jefferson City Renegades baseball game next Thursday, June 15th.  Pick up tickets at the Activity Center and have a great time.

Summer Student Account Q&A

You Summer charges are now visible on myTech. Here are some common Q&A about your student account.

How do I view the charges in my student account, or my student account balance?

Your student account information can be viewed by logging into your myTech account under the Student tab and myFinancial Information.

When is tuition due?

Student account balances are due in full by the first day of the semester. The balance will incur a 2% finance charge each month it remains unpaid. Students can avoid the monthly finance charge by setting up a payment plan and making their monthly payments on time.

Are payment plans available to pay my student account balance?

If you are interested in setting up a payment plan, please contact the Cashier’s office (573-897-5121 or billing@statetechmo.edu) to discuss available options.

How can I pay for my student account balance?

State Tech accepts cash, check, money order, and debit/credit card payments. Payments can be made at the Cashier’s Office window, through your myTech account under ‘myFinancial Account,’ by mail, or over the phone by calling 573-897-5121. If you would like to send a payment via mail, please send to the following address:

State Technical College of Missouri
Attn: Cashier
One Technology Drive
Linn, MO 65051

What if my tuition is covered by a third party?

If your tuition is to be covered by a third party, it is your responsibility to work with your third party contact and the Cashier’s Office to ensure that both the third party contact and the Cashier’s Office has received the appropriate paperwork in order for your tuition to be covered.

How will I receive any refunds due to me?

If you are interested in receiving your refund via direct deposit, please log in to myTech and input your bank information. If bank information is not provided via myTech, refunds will be issued via check. Students are notified via email when checks are available for pickup at the Cashiers office.

Can I get a book voucher?

Severe Weather – Alerts

Another great question from a parent this week about severe weather and a tornado shelter on campus.

In the event of tornado warnings in Linn, students will be notified through our Rave Alert system. They will receive a text and an e-mail (to their State Tech e-mail) of a reported Tornado Warning.

In addition, Osage County has Osage County Public Safety Alerts. The alerts are powered by Smart911. Students can register to receive Smart911 alerts to inform them on weather, traffic, and other emergencies in the community.

Sign up today!  https://safety.smart911.com/how-it-works/alerts/

Tornado Shelter – Activity Center

The Activity Center has a tornado shelter and is open from 5:00 AM – Midnight Monday through Friday and 7:00 AM – Midnight during the academic year. So we will always have staff in the building during those times if we have a severe weather warning.

From midnight to 5:00 AM, we have a Residence Life Coordinator that lives on campus who is notified in the event of a tornado warning. They go up to the Activity Center and open the shelter.

Off campus students are encouraged to utilize the shelter if it is safe for them to attempt to get to campus. This is a great topic that we normally share just with students when classes begin in the Fall, but I think we can talk about in an upcoming Staying in Touch for everyone to know. Thanks for the question.

Register Your Team Today – Program Competition

Today is the day! Register your team for Cardboard Boat Races. You can register and pick up a cardboard starter kit from Cameron Carter at the Activity Center today through the 19th. If you need additional items to construct your boat – you will need to provide them yourselves.

Then, bring your boat to Lake State Take at 4:00 PM Thursday, September 21st. Join in on the fun. Remember, the boat must hold 2 people. The official rules are attached to this email. We have been encouraging students to contact instructors to sign up. Each program can have more than one entry (but each boat needs to have two different students).

If any other departments in Student Affairs, External Affairs, Business Office, Bookstore, Osage View, etc. want to create a boat – you are more than welcome!

BLOOD DRIVE TOMORROW – THURSDAY, September 7, 2023

State Tech’s blood drive is Thursday September 7th from 9am-2pm in The Activity Center. Please help us save lives by making an appointment to donate. Appointments help keep wait times down please make one by using the link below or on our donor app.

The American Red Cross asks people to continue donating blood and platelets to prevent a shortage this fall and stay prepared for emergencies. Make an appointment to give in September

to ensure blood is available when it’s needed.

  1. September is National Preparedness Month. After a concerning drop in donations over the summer, it’s important the Red Cross keeps a strong blood supply on hand to meet the needs of

patients every day and be ready for disaster situations, including those that can disrupt blood

drives or require blood or platelet transfusions.

  1. Severe weather can have negative effects on blood collections, such as causing drive cancellations and impacting donors’ ability to give. As intense weather-related events increase,

it’s important to keep in mind that a strong, stable blood supply is an important element of

emergency preparedness.

  1. It can take several days for blood to be tested, processed and made available for patients, so it’s the blood already on the shelves that helps save lives in an emergency.

HOW TO HELP:

  1. Donate blood. If eligible, donate (CLICK HERE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT) or use Sponsor Code: StateTech
  2. Consider making a Power Red Eligible donors with types O, A negative and B negative blood are encouraged to make a Power Red donation where available. During a Power Red donation, a concentrated dose of red blood cells are collected while most of the plasma and platelets are returned to the donor. This blood gets to the hospital quicker & is better for our most vulnerable patients.
  3. Spread the word. Send the attached email to your friends/students/faculty.

DONOR INCENTIVES:

  1. All presenting donors will get a FREE t-shirt while supplies last
  2. Give in Sept. for free haircut coupon by email and race tix chance from Sport Clips! rcblood.org/win

Paying Attention Award

I have only had one person turn in a Paying Attention Award -so one more is out there to find. Refer back to the Staying in Touch this morning for clues. Have a good day.

Open Door Philosophy

We hope you are enjoying your time at State Tech, make sure to take advantage of activities and resources on campus. It is normal for students to have many questions. If you have questions or concerns that you would like addressed, please do not hesitate to write me an e-mail (chris.bowser@statetechmo.edu), give me a call (573) 897-5201 (leave a message if I’m not able to answer), or stop by my office in Nilges Technology Center, Room 109.

Tips & Tricks – Wednesday, August 23, 2023

Welcome back to Day 2 of the Fall 2023 semester. We hope the first day went well and that you’re back on campus ready to go for classes again today. This week there is a lot of information to share so the emails will be more frequent. Next week, we will get into the routine of 2 per week (usually Monday and Friday unless there is something important to share during the week). Thanks for reading! We have just a couple updates this morning.

Campus Network Issues

The main fiber network card in our core switch in Nilges has decided to fail. This card feeds more than 75% of our campus network. The failure started Monday and we managed to get through Tuesday, but that was not without causing major degradation to our network. Users will notice slow network speeds on hardwired connections and the Wi-Fi will be slow as well. We have rush ordered replacement parts and hope to have them in the next 1- 2 days. We appreciate your patience as we work as quickly as we can to fully restore service.

Week of Welcome – Wednesday

Today, we host the Part-Time Job Fair outside the Founder’s Café from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and the Ice Cream Social from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. This event is currently scheduled for the OCCC Patio. Please be on the lookout for a change in venue to move this event inside. We are looking at either the Activity Center or the OCCC.

Trivia Night – Thursday at 5:00 PM in the Vehicle & Power Center Conference Room

Get a team together and compete for prizes and bragging rights. This is a student and faculty & staff event. Head of Library Learning Services, Andrew Medley is putting together 10 rounds of tough questions. Who will come out victorious? Get a team together and find out.

Academic Resource Center

The ARC is open on the 2nd floor of the ITC (above the Library). They are open until 7:00 PM to assist with all of your general education tutoring needs. Stop by this week and meet Lorinda, Desiree, and Nate.

Rooms Available in Housing

After a busy weekend, we did have some “no shows” in Housing. Many have found off campus accommodations or have decided to commute and live with family. If you are currently commuting and would rather live on campus, please reach out to Hanna for more information about how to secure a room on campus. Eliminate the commute and the need to battle for parking daily.

Tips & Tricks (Faculty & Staff Edition - PowerUP is in 3 Days!)

Good afternoon, State Tech faculty & staff:

As we prepare for the 2023-2024 instructional year, we wanted to keep you all informed about upcoming events that will kick-off the year. This is information we have been sending to students and parents since June 1st through our “Staying in Touch” series. We have received positive feedback about the timely information that students and parents are getting. We also get a steady volume of questions that help us clarify steps to being successful as students start the new academic year. We will continue to communicate to them through these bi-weekly communications for the remainder of the academic year.

Power Up – Monday, August 21, 2023

We are just 3 days away from Power up! We will invite our new students to campus for a welcome session and general information. The students will then be escorted to a location where they will meet their program instructors, advisors, participate in an icebreaker activity, and learn information about campus resources in our “Meet the Instructors” session. Following that session, we will walk the students back to the patio between the Activity Center and the OCCC for a FREE BBQ dinner and concert by local country band Shiloh.

All faculty and staff are invited to attend. We believe this is a great opportunity to connect with incoming students.

Power Up Agenda

On Monday, August 21, 2023, all campus offices will be open from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM to serve students and parents with any last-minute items they need to complete before our Power Up agenda begins.

Please see the schedule of events to become familiar with the timeline of the day.

Plan to attend the Welcome BBQ & Concert:  free dinner while enjoying live music of Shiloh prior to the first day of classes.

Week of Welcome

Here are the Week of Welcome activities scheduled for the Fall of 2023.

We hope you will encourage students to attend activities during the week in between and after classes.

These events allow students to socialize with others in their program outside the classroom and to meet students from other programs across campus.

Students will earn “State Tech Tokens” for every event attended. They will use them at the end of the year BBQ and Silent Auction to bid and purchase prizes. Last year, we had over 440 students attend the end of the year BBQ and prize event. We hope we can top that this year.

Week of Welcome – Program Competition

Why is it important to encourage students to attend Week of Welcome activities? We know that students who make meaningful connections outside the classroom find more reasons to persist to the next semester and ultimately retain to graduation.

We have also brought back a competition for the second year. The program with the highest attendance percentage during Week of Welcome activities wins a $5,000 prize from SGA.

Two years ago, Auto Collision won the inaugural award. Christian Record used the prize to assist with tool purchases for his shop that had an immediate impact on learning. Last year, Precision Machining took home the Championship! Can your program beat the past two Champions?

What program will be able to take the coveted prize in the Fall of 2023?

Overkill Grill – August 31, 2022

We will host major events each Wednesday after the Week of Welcome. The first will be the “Overkill Grill” BBQ on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on the patio between the Activity Center and the OCCC.

State Tech purchased the Grand Champion steer at the Osage County Fair for this event (thank you Dr. Strong!)

All are welcome to attend and enjoy the FREE BBQ.

Cardboard Boat Races – Program Competition

We are excited to bring another program competition to our agnda for the Fall semester. During the Spring, we had an amazing turnout for the Hog Roast Competition. September 21st, we will host a Cardboard Boat Race at Lake State Tech. Cardboard start kits will be available on September 14th in the Activity Center. Competition rules will be distributed at that time. We hope to see many of you create a boat and compete for one of the three prizes. 1. Fastest Boat 2. Design Award 3. Titanic Award (for the most spectacular sinking). We hope this will be another great competition event where we can come together and have some fun.

Saturday, August 26, 2023 – Kansas City Extreme Wrestling

You will not want to miss KCXW’s return to the State Tech Activity Center on Saturday, August 26th! Doors open at 5:30 and all faculty and staff are FREE with their State Tech ID! All others are just $5 at the door. This high energy event will be fun for the entire family. The Osage Burger Company will be open! Come and make it a night out for all your family and friends.

Driving and Parking on Campus

Driving

We are just 1 week until the start of classes! Here are a few reminders to make driving to campus a positive experience.

Thanks.

Virtual Quick Hit

Here is a quick video to walk you through where to park on campus.

If you look down after you park and see yellow lines, green lines, blue lines, or grass…you have parked illegally. We will write warning tickets during the first week and then issue parking citations. We do not want to write tickets, so please park inside the white lines.

Where are the open parking spaces?

Most mornings, there are open parking spots immediately to the east of the Vehicle and Power Canter.

Please continue to follow Technology Drive to the right of the traffic circle and follow it until you find an open parking space.

If you live on campus:

  • Please park in the lot closest to your cottage and walk to your class locations on campus. You will receive a parking sticker that needs to be displayed in your car when it is parked at your dorm. This helps with traffic congestion issues during the day.
  • After 5:00 PM, housing students can park in other areas of campus.

If you have questions about parking, I am more than happy to discuss your concerns. Please send me a note or stop by my office in Nilges 109. Please start the year off and park in the appropriate locations from the start of the semester. We do not want to write tickets. Thank you for helping us address this together. Have a great day!

Tips & Tricks - Wednesday, June 28, 2023

Happy Wednesday. We wanted to share some mid-week information with everyone about a couple questions we have been receiving this week. We will have a Staying in Touch this Friday as well. Then, State Tech is closed on Monday, July 3rd and Tuesday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day! Please enjoy your 4-day weekend. Have fun and be safe. Classes will resume on Wednesday, July 5th.

Can I use financial aid to purchase books and tools?

If your financial aid exceeds your institutional charges, or you receive funding from a third-party agency that will cover the cost of required books, tools, or supplies, you may charge your purchases to your student account in the bookstore (some sources of funding may have restrictions on items that can be charged).  This process begins about two weeks prior to the start of the semester. To be eligible to charge bookstore items to your student account, a student must have all financial aid paperwork completed.  Eligible students can charge allowable amounts to their accounts for the first two weeks of the semester.

If you have questions about your financial aid eligibility, please reach out to the Financial Aid team.
