Counselors are also trained in Crisis Intervention along with volunteer faculty, staff and students in leadership roles. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students, and State Tech Counselors are dedicated to helping students in crisis, teaching others how to observe and report for early detection associated with suicide. The Associate Dean of Student Affairs, the Clinical Counselor/VRE and College Counselor are used as emergency contacts for State Tech students. Outside Licensed Professional Counselors are used for further evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of reported students. State Tech Counselors will continue to support these relationships as well as develop new ones.
