Time Off for Voting

State Tech recognizes that voting is a right and privilege of being a citizen of the United States and encourages employees to exercise their right to vote in federal, state, and local elections. In compliance with state law, employees are allowed paid time off to vote during polling hours when, because of their work schedule, they are not able to vote outside of regularly scheduled work hours. Supervisors shall authorize necessary time off with pay, but not to exceed the hours required by state law. Such time off is not charged to the employees paid time off accruals, but must be requested prior to Election Day. The time off to vote must be scheduled when least disruptive to the department’s work.
