Restricting Access to College Property

State Technical College of Missouri is committed to providing a safe, secure, and orderly environment that supports its educational mission. The College reserves the right to restrict access to College property when necessary to protect the safety of students, employees, visitors, College property, or College operations.

Policy

The College may prohibit or restrict an individual’s access to all or portions of College-owned, leased, or controlled property when the individual’s conduct presents a legitimate safety, security, operational, or legal concern, or when otherwise authorized by law or College policy.

Restrictions may apply to students, employees, contractors, vendors, visitors, former employees, former students, or members of the public, as appropriate to the circumstances. This policy is not intended to limit the College’s ability to take disciplinary, employment, academic, or legal action when otherwise authorized.

The President delegates authority for administering this policy to the Vice President of Operations, who may designate appropriate College officials to implement the associated procedures and issue Notices of No Trespass or other access restrictions.

Individuals who violate an issued restriction may be directed to leave College property and may be subject to enforcement under applicable law.

Procedures

The Vice President of Operations shall establish procedures governing the issuance, documentation, delivery, enforcement, and reconsideration of access restrictions under this policy.
