State Technical College of Missouri is excited to announce major changes to our Activity Center.
The plan is to move the current 3,500 square foot fitness center to the lower level and expanded it to 5,000+ square feet. Existing and new cardio and weight lifting equipment will be moved downstairs to accommodate the growing needs of our students and the community. However, some treadmills and ellipticals will stay on the main level in our new “Cardio Room”, which includes an amazing view outside.
The current fitness center will become a game room complete with pool tables, table tennis, foosball, dartboards, air hockey, a jukebox and arcade games. Use of the new game center will be included with your Activity Center membership at no additional cost. A glass wall will separate the game center from the rest of the Activity Center.
With all these changes in store State Tech as also hired a new Activity Center Director, Scott Peters. Peters has been a member of the State Tech team for more than a decade most recently serving as State Tech’s Executive Director of Development. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve State Technical College of Missouri in this role. There are exciting changes that are happening at the facility and I am looking forward to leading this transition. I believe the changes to the current fitness center and the addition of a game room will bring added value to the members and students.”
Peters is a perfect fit for this position, as he himself is a dedicated member of the center. “I am highly motivated to maintain my own health and wellness. I am excited to assist others in reaching their own health and fitness goals. At the very least, I want to inspire others to take advantage of this unique recreation center we have in our community. I have a vested interest in the facility and appreciate the convenience of the amenities the center offers. I work out at in the fitness center daily,” said Peters.
We are also happy to announce that Nicole Nilges is being promoted to the Activity Center Associate Director.
You will start to see these changes happening very soon. We will make every attempt to leave the fitness center open for the duration of the project to avoid any inconvenience to our members.
