  • Family and friends need to walk to the Activity Center (Building 11 on the campus map).
  • Plan for ceremonies to last between 1 hour and 15 minutes – 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Caps and Gowns

Cap and gown sizing information is collected through the graduation application.

Caps and gowns will be delivered to program chairs and instructors.  They will be distributed in class.

Helpful tips:

  • Try on the cap and gown as soon as possible. If there are any issues with fit or if you need an XL cap, email Katy Minnix right away.
  • The tassel is not attached to the cap and likes to hide in the bag. Make sure to empty all contents before discarding the bag.
  • Hang up the cap and gown right away to smooth out wrinkles. A cool iron or steamer can also be used.

General Manager/CEO ~ Macon Electric Cooperative

2025 Guest Speaker

Tim Korman

Tim attended State Technical College (formerly Linn Technical College) and graduated with an Associate of Electronic Technology degree in 1990. While attending, he was actively involved in student leadership, serving on the Student Council as Intramural Director. Tim has maintained a strong connection with State Tech, continuing to serve on the Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) Advisory Committee, where he helps guide the future of the industry. After graduation, Tim began his career at Macon Electric Cooperative as an Equipment Repair and Operator, working on distribution transformers and line equipment. His dedication and work ethic led to an opportunity to become a Lineman, a role in which he spent the next 25 years building and maintaining distribution power lines across a nine-county area. His extensive field experience as a lineman proved invaluable as he advanced through leadership roles, serving as Line Superintendent, Operations Manager, and now as General Manager/CEO of Macon Electric Cooperative. Beyond his professional achievements, Tim has always been deeply committed to his community. He has been involved in various local organizations and initiatives, supporting efforts that enhance rural living and economic development in the Macon area. He believes in the importance of strong community ties and actively seeks ways to give back, whether through mentoring young professionals, supporting local events, or advocating for infrastructure improvements. Tim and his wife, Amy, are proud to call Macon home. They have two daughters, both of whom are married, and they cherish the time spent with their sons-in-law and three beautiful granddaughters. Family is at the heart of everything Tim does, and he enjoys making memories with them whenever possible. An avid outdoorsman, Tim loves spending time outside, whether it's working on his land, hunting, or simply enjoying nature. Hunting has been a lifelong passion of his, providing not just recreation but also an opportunity to pass on traditions to his family. Through his dedication to his career, community, and family, Tim remains committed to making a positive impact both professionally and personally.
