Purpose
State Technical College of Missouri is dedicated to our vision of premier technical education as well as supporting economic development in Missouri and serving the state’s diverse population. As such, State Tech seeks to recognize distinguished citizens and to memorialize students with two distinct awards, the Honorary Degree and the Honorary Certificate, which are given at the discretion of the President.
Honorary Degree
Distinguished Citizen: A distinguished citizen may receive a degree in honor for outstanding contribution in a field related to an instructional program at State Technical College of Missouri.
Student: If a student passes away or becomes permanently incapacitated due to illness or injury preventing course completion while enrolled at State Tech, an Honorary Degree may be awarded as a way for faculty and staff to remember and recognize the student’s enthusiasm and dedication to their program. A student may be granted an honorary degree if they were enrolled in a degree-seeking program and were in good standing with the college.
Honorary Certificate
Distinguished Citizen: A distinguished citizen may receive a certificate in honor of significant contribution to State Technical College of Missouri.
Student: If a student passes away or becomes permanently incapacitated due to illness or injury preventing course completion while enrolled at State Tech, an Honorary Certificate may be awarded as a way for faculty and staff to remember and recognize the student’s enthusiasm and dedication to their program. A student may be granted an honorary certificate if they were enrolled in a certificate-seeking program and were in good standing with the college.
