Library Policies

Library Computer & Internet Use
To support academic success, the library provides computer and internet access for the State Tech campus community. All users are expected to follow State Tech’s guidelines for responsible and ethical use of technology. Review the full policy here: Student Computer and Internet Acceptable Use.

Setting Up Your Account
Many of the digital resources available to our students are offered through MOBIUS and EBSCO. These resources are easily available to users on our on-campus network, or off-campus by following the link indicated for the resource. In either case, signing in with your State Tech email address and password will ensure a smooth connectivity experience, regardless of device. If you have any questions or need assistance throughout this process, please contact a library staff member.

Overdue Materials
Patrons who have not returned library materials by the due date will be emailed an overdue notice. After two overdue notices, a library hold will be placed on the patron’s account, viewable in myTech. A library hold can be cleared by paying for the non-returned material, or, by simply returning it. Students with holds cannot confirm their schedule for the next semester or receive their diploma.

Fees & Fines
State Tech Library patrons enjoy a Zero Fines policy for returned items. However, the cost for non-returned State Tech Library materials is the replacement cost of the item plus a $10 processing fee. Non-returned or damaged materials obtained through MOBIUS interlibrary loan will be charged $120 per item.

Who May Borrow
State Tech students, faculty and staff have access to the entire collection. Residents of Linn and Osage County can borrow print materials.

Obtaining a Library Card
To borrow materials from the State Tech collection, you must have a valid library card. State Tech students’ and employees’ ID card functions as their library card. Replacement cards can be obtained at the Activity Center.

To obtain a library card, residents of Linn and Osage County must present a picture ID, such as a driver’s license and proof of their current residence address, such as a recent bill from the utilities company. Borrowing privileges are restricted to 10 print materials from the State Tech Library collection.

Library service may be denied if a user does not return overdue materials, does not pay outstanding fines, removes materials illegally or repeatedly abuses Library policies.
