Social Media, State Tech Accounts

To ensure that all program and departmental social media pages represent State Tech in a professional, accurate, and consistent manner. Program accounts are extensions of the College’s official communication channels and must align with institutional values, branding, and legal obligations. This policy applies to all State Tech programs, departments, faculty, and staff who create, manage, or contribute to official program social media accounts.

Policy Statements

  1. Ownership
  • All program social media accounts are the property of State Tech.
  • Accounts must be developed with the Marketing Department.
  • At least two faculty/staff members must maintain admin access to each account.
  1. Branding & Representation
  • Program accounts must use official State Tech logos, program names, and approved graphics.
  • Content must maintain a professional, inclusive, and positive tone that reflects the mission of the College.
  1. Content Standards
  • Posts should promote program achievements, events, alumni/faculty/student success stories, and opportunities.
  • Confidential information (e.g., student records, grades) must never be posted.
  • All photos, videos, or personal content must have proper permissions and comply with FERPA.
  • Inappropriate, discriminatory, or offensive content is strictly prohibited.
  • Appropriate safety and workplace standards should be reflected; i.e. personal protective equipment.
  1. Compliance
  • Program accounts must follow all relevant federal/state laws, including FERPA, and comply with State Tech IT, branding, and acceptable use policies.
  • Sponsored or promotional posts require Marketing approval.
  1. Accountability
  • The Marketing Department reserves the right to monitor, request edits, or deactivate accounts not aligned with this policy.
  • Program Chairs/Deans are responsible for ensuring accounts remain active, accurate, and professional.
