State Tech to Dedicate Capital Equipment Building

 LINN, Mo. — State Technical College of Missouri will officially dedicate its new Capital Equipment Building on Thursday, September 24, recognizing a generous donation from Capital in Jefferson City and the company’s continued support of State Tech, technical education and Missouri’s workforce.

The 40,000-square-foot facility, measuring 400 feet by 100 feet, houses State Tech’s fleet of heavy equipment used by students in the college’s popular Heavy Equipment Operations and Management program. The facility provides dedicated space for the equipment students use throughout their hands-on education while preparing for careers in the heavy equipment and construction industries.

 “We are pleased to have our first corporately named building on campus. We have had a great working relationship with the Capital family of companies for years. This investment shows the level of that commitment and the value our students bring to their continued growth. Our corporate partnerships have never been stronger, and this investment again shows why we are the Employers’ Choice.” Said State Tech President Dr. Shawn Strong.

The outdoor ceremony will begin at 2 p.m., followed by a reception in the Operations Complex lobby. Speakers will include Missouri Department of Transportation Director Ed Hassinger, a representative from Capital’s Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Peart, and State Tech President Dr. Shawn Strong.

The dedication celebrates not only a new facility but also the partnerships that help State Tech provide students with the equipment, facilities and hands-on education needed to enter Missouri’s workforce.
