State Tech Vs. Community College

At most community colleges you will take classes with high school students and part-time students. The college experience primary consists of going to classes and living with mom and dad. At State Tech we believe everyone should have the chance to experience college.  All of our students are full-time students, primarily recent high school graduates. Most of our students relocate to Linn and live in college housing on campus or in the community. We have the Osage View Entertainment Complex where students golf and swim for free. An Activity Center with three basketball courts, walking track, game room, and fitness center. Lake State Tech with stocked lake, walking trail, sand volleyball, pickleball and even a white sand beach.  We also have a comprehensive offering of intermural sports and collegiate shooting and fishing teams.  If you want a true college experience State Tech delivers.

State Technical College of Missouri offers hands-on education. This allows students the opportunity to gain real-world experience to help them become The Employers’ Choice. All of our technical programs require a summer internship, a rarity at two-year colleges. This hands-on training helps students understand their program before they enter the workforce. State Tech is Missouri’s Technical College meaning we offer programs not often found on other two-year campuses.  State Tech has the best and most comprehensive technical labs in Missouri.  Some of our labs like our Utility Labs, Safety Village, Heavy Equipment, Nuclear, Electrical, and HVAC labs are among the best in the country!

The nearest ranked two-year school in Missouri came in at 267.  No other two-year college in Missouri comes even close to State Tech.  10 years after graduation, our graduates even make more money that Missouri’s four-year regional colleges.
